DESCRIPTION:
A Beautiful & Rare Lambayeque-Chimu culture transitional whistle vessel. A wonderful example of cross-cultural art.
The vessel features an individual cupping his chin with one hand and grasping his helmet~headdress with the other.
The spout is clearly a Lambayeque form, but the man is obviously Chimu in style - showing the blending of artistic
styles from the two cultures. The ring like chamber is thought to represent a headdress, a form seen more
frequently in earlier Moche pieces. The vessel exhibits a nicely burnished slip which shows good mineral deposits
and the strap handle conceals a whistle with great tone. This exceptional piece dates from 1000-1300 AD.

A Beautiful Chimu culture Viringo effigy vessel. This vessel depicts a wild canine indigenous to the coastal deserts.
These wild dogs have been virtually unchanged in over 2000 years, although there are significant evidence that ancient
Andean people did try to domesticate some of them, as certain effigies picture the aminals with collars. They are
virtually hairless, very wrinkled and the older ones have a characteristic bumps of their heads. They regulate
their body temperatures by burying themselves in the sand, with only their heads peering out. This exceptional piece
dates from 1100-145p0 AD.

When looking at the design it has similarities of the Nasca abstract bird designs? This piece was collected in the 1920's by an
American who was working in Peru. It has been in his families possession since that time.

The Paracas culture lived along the Southern Coast of Peru from around 700BC - 200AD. They were a fascinating culture
with many talents. Their textile art is considered the best of all ancient Andean cultures! The sample listed
here was constructed by embroidering an intricate design using yellow and blue thread on a brown background. There are
three wide eyed smiling creatures seen among the design block. The background red thread is then carefully
embroidered between the intricate design. This style of embroidery is classified as Liner style and was the first
style used by the Paracas people. This piece of textile was purchased from the same family that many of the Nazca
pieces of pottery were recovered from last year. This beautifully framed textile sample along with its discriptive
label would make a great addition to any Pre-Columbian collection. The frame can be hung on the wall or placed on a shelf.

Jamacoaque Culture Shaman Statue from Ecuador
DESCRIPTION:
A fine standing Shaman figure on a platform base. This Shaman is wearing an elaborate headdress
and feline face mask. Decorations to his headdress and the jewelry hanging from around his neck are applied.
He also is decorated with an incised loin cloth and mouth, nose and chin plugs. Light red color pigment can be seen
on his clothing. The face looks to be painted in a dark green paint. This figure stands 5 1/4" high and dates from
300BC - 400AD.
CONDITION:
In Very Good condition with good mineral deposits, the only condition issue is the nose plug is chipped. The rest
of the statue is very strong and stands perfectly on its platform.

DESCRIPTION:
This unique group of 3 Chimu weaver spindles and effigy whorls is exceptional. The first carved and painted whorl is in the
shape of a bird or parrot. The spindle is also painted with dark red and white line design. The bird is carved and
painted with dark blue, red and yellow highlights. The eyes are highlighted in white. The spindle measures 12 3/4"
long and the whorl measures 3/4" long. The second is carved in the shape of an owl. The owl is painted in dark brown
and highlighted in tan with white eyes. The spindle is painted with a white background and highlighted with black and
tan design elements. This spindle measures 12 1/2" long and the whorl measures 5/8" long. The third is carved in a
geometric design with great Blue, White and Yellow paint. This spindle still has wool tread present on it. The spindle
measures 11 1/2" long and the whorl measures 1 1/8" long. This set dates from 1100-1300 AD.

In Very Good condition, paint is worn is some spots from age and a small piece of the bottom back side of the owl is missing.

1-700AD. This bowl dates from 300 - 600 AD. This is the same culture responsible for the famous Nazca lines.
They are well known for their beautiful painted pottery. This bowl with its simple design is very pleasing
to the eye. This piece was collected in the 1920's by an American who was working in Peru.
It has been in his families possession since that time.

DESCRIPTION:
A great Jamacoaque whistle figure with great details and functioning whistle. The figure is depicted standing
wearing a great headdress made from skulls as well as extensive jewelry. Good green and gold paint remnants remain.
CONDITION:
In good condition, the left foot has been reattached at the ankle and a pressure crack at the base of the neck in the
back of the figure. Pressure crack does not detract from this statue, still strong and solid.
